LOS ANGELES - Bruce, Billy and Barack will be together on stage for a benefit concert for the Democratic presidential nominee on October 16 at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom.

Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel will play at the fundraiser for Barack Obama, the first joint concert of the "Boss" and the "Piano Man".

Obama will attend the concert, which will be held the day after his final debate with Republican presidential contender John McCain at Hofstra University, in New York.

Joel, 59, recently joined Paul McCartney on stage to play Beatles songs at Shea Stadium.

Springsteen, 59, and his E Street Band, who agreed to play the Super Bowl halftime show, have played for politicians before. In 2004 they organised a series of gigs for John Kerry. - Sapa-DPA
