Mpumalanga Vodacom Second Division league early pacesetters Barberton City Stars and Mighty Mega Force notched maximum points at the weekend over ELB Movers and Sekhukhune Lions.

Stars comfortably beat Movers 2-0 while Force narrowly beat Lions 1-0. The two sides look to be pulling away from the chasing pack.

Currently, Stars, who are yet to taste defeat, lead the race with 23 points after nine games, and Force follow with 22 points, also after nine games.

Their closest rival, Batau Killers, who hammered Witbank Manchester 5-0, are in third place with 18 points after eight games.

In Eastern Cape, Blackburn Rovers failed to extend their lead on top of the table when they were held to a goalless draw by The Guys.

Bay Academy beat Cloud 9 2-0, while Bush Bucks thumped OR Tambo District Cosmos to equal Rovers on 25 points and share the top spot.

Both Rovers and Academy have played nine games, while Bucks have played eight.
