Ithwasa win R130000 prize

Maskandi group Ithwasa Langempela and front man Mtshengiseni Gcwensa scooped three awards at the third South African Traditional Music Awards on Saturday.

The group won Bestselling Album, Best Composer and Best Song of the Year awards and were presented with R130 000.

Other winners in the various categories were: Best Sepedi Album: Mafoloshe Nkwe Thabeng; Best Mbaqanga: Ofeleba; Best Isindebele: Nanas Nezakhe, Best Shangaan: Checha Boys; Best Indian: Flesh Entertainment; and Best isiXhosa: Nkunzemdaka.

Also Best seSotho: Molotsane; Best Siswati: Nombuso; Best Isicathamiya: High Stars; and Best Community Radio DJ: Monwabisi.

Also Best Boeremusiek: Bredell Junior Orkes; Best Male: Mfiliseni Magubane; Best Video: Bhekumuzi Luthuli; Best Praise Singer: Mawalanga; and Best Indigenous Comedian: Pastor Mjosti.

Also Best Traditional DJ: Saba Mbixane; and Lasting Legacy and Founder's Awards: West Nkosi and Mfazomnyama.
