Hundreds of thousands of St Engenas Zion Christian Church members will make their way to Moria this weekend to listen to Bishop Engenas Lekganyane's "New Year" message.
Every year, members of the church travel to Moria. Boyne, near Polokwane for religious celebrations.
The celebrations normally take place on the Easter weekend and in September to mark the start of church's New Year.
The celebrations include night-long singing of hymns and dancing.
The pilgrims will be entertained by many male and female choirs.
The church's leader, Engenas Lekganyane, who is the grandson of the founder, also named Engenas, is expected to deliver his New Year message, after which he will parade with his brass band (a highlight of the holy weekend).
The St Engenas ZCC, commonly referred to as the "ZCC of the dove", is situated about a kilometre from the larger ZCC faction, better known for their star badge and mkhukhu dancers.
Both churches were, until 1948, one group under the founder Engenas Lekganyane. Following his death in 1948, the church split when some elders argued that the anointed heir, Joseph, was too young to become a bishop and that his elder brother, Edward (the father of the larger faction's current leader Barnabas), should become the bishop.
The Limpopo department of roads and transport said they were ready for the expected multitudes.
"We appeal to all to obey the rules of the road and to cooperate with us the busy weekend," said spokesman Selby Makgotho.
