The council of the Molemole municipality in Limpopo has reinstated three officials who were dismissed three months ago when they were found guilty of misconduct.

The officials, Mpodu Morokolo, Rosina Moremi and Gladys Rapholo, were dismissed after they were found guilty of improper conduct relating to the institution's finances.

Their dismissal was based on recommendations made after a forensic audit.

All three resumed their duties yesterday following a council resolution that was taken on Thursday last week.

The council reportedly discovered that there were flaws in the investigation and in the forensic audit.

Municipal spokesman Timothy Molopa yesterday confirmed their reinstatement and said they had all resumed their duties.

The municipality will also have to pay them their salaries for the three months since their dismissal.

Molopa said a decision had also been taken to withdraw cases against three managers who were implicated in tender scams and negligence in handling the institution's finances.

The officials were identified as Ernest Mokganya, Eric Telekisa and Sam Raselai.

They were still employed by the municipality.

"But officials who were implicated in money-related issues will have to pay back the money," Molopa said.
