Now focus on rebuilding ANC to forge unity

I would like to support your editorial of August 16 that the ANC needs unity now. I think this is a better opportunity for the ANC to forge towards uniting all its members on the ground and in the leadership.

Judge Chris Nicholson's judgment has paved the way for the movement to focus on unity. The judgment has proved that the Zuma saga was just a political game gone wrong. Some leaders within the ANC wanted positions at the expense of others. They didn't know that their actions would cause such a big problem for the movement, the country and themselves. Greed took over their minds.

But President Thabo Mbeki should have known better and reserved his selfishness and focus on building a better South Africa so that history judges him well. Let that be water under the bridge. Our comrades in the NEC and PECs should now focus on building a united and strong ANC that will redirect the policies of the movement to its rightful targets - the poor, workers, women empowerment. We must also take on board the interests of the minorities, especial whites. We need their skills and those who are poor should qualify for grants.

Mbeki must stay on as president till his term ends and officially handover power to the people's president JZ. I hate to see Mbeki retiring from politics at this time. We still need him. I'm happy the truth has finally come out.
