Eight pupils at a Limpopo high school got away with their shenanigans after the school decided to forgive them for bonking on the premises.

Only two of the eight were expelled from the school hostel, while six were issued with final warnings "because they showed remorse".

Sowetan learnt yesterday that four boys and four girls from Settlers Agricultural High School in the Bela-Bela area were caught in the act by a fellow pupil during school hours. The pupil blew the whistle on them.

Sources at the school said the pupils, all aged between 14 and 16, went on a bonking spree after the girls sneaked out of their hostel rooms to go and have sex at the boys' hostel.

The Limpopo department of education confirmed the incident and said the naughty pupils appeared before the school's disciplinary committee for "serious misconduct".

A source said: "The girls sneaked into a room shared by the boys to engage in a steamy sex session.

"I don't understand how our boarding master failed to see them. He normally checks to prevent this kind of thing.

A parent said: "The light punishment meted out to the kids could lead to drug and alcohol abuse when they are grown-ups and they will have to bear the consequences of their actions."

But the authorities said pupils were expected to follow the school's code of conduct and failure to do so should result in harsh penalties.

"The school is a place where children are expected to be taught manners, not apply biology," said Limpopo education department spokesman Ndo Mangala.
