Cyril Nzama's lawyers have since brought to our attention that the headline was factually incorrect.
They have also refuted the report that Nzama pleaded guilty to charges of assaulting his wife and said this was never mentioned during his appearance in court last week.
Sowetan apologises for the incorrect article and headline and regrets any inconvenience it may have caused Nzama and his family.
