Let us all help keep SA clean

Most of our towns and cities are dirty, not because there is no system in place to clean them, but because the filth we create is just too much for the system to handle. We the people are to blame.

Most of our towns and cities are dirty, not because there is no system in place to clean them, but because the filth we create is just too much for the system to handle. We the people are to blame.

Imagine these scenarios: a motor vehicle driver throws a stompie out of the window and drives on, then a girl throws a paper out of a car window and the parents do not reprimand her.

People should have common sense and should differentiate between right and wrong. Littering is wrong.

We bitterly complain if municipalities do not provide services, but we also have responsibilities. Keeping our environment clean is one way we can contribute to our country. All our towns and cities have refuse bins and we should make use of them.

Just like we keep our homes and yards clean, so should we keep our greater environment clean. All this means is that individuals should do simple and positive things like not throwing dirt in the streets. Use the bins to dump your rubbish.

Most successful initiatives emanate from society's participation. Our collective approach to our challenges will bring about results. It is time to take responsibility and to lay a foundation that is solid and valuable for us and future generations.
