Congratulations to our disabled sportsmen and women for representing South Africa so well at the Paralympic Games in Beijing.
They have collected medals almost daily and broken a number of world, Olympic and personal records.
However there is a downside. For many years South Africa has been divided along racial lines, and it is even more so among the disabled. This is a problem that seems not to have been addressed. Just look at the composition of our team in Beijing.
I'm sure there are a number of black Fanie Lombards, Oscar Pistoriuses and Natalie du Toits who are eager to participate and can enhance South African performances at these games.
