Two men were arrested for robbing a take-away shop in Joubert Park, Johannesburg, the police said yesterday.

Spokesman Captain John Maluleke said the men are alleged to have robbed the shop on the corner of Harrison and Grey streets at 4.20pm on Tuesday.

The three - one armed with a pistol - entered the shop and demanded money from the owner.

"The owner ran to the back of the shop and locked himself in," Maluleke said.

Two of them were later arrested while one escaped. - Sapa
