Boxing promoter Blacky Seoe has allayed fears of a stampede at the 5 000 seater hall inside the Multipurpose Centre in Kestell on Friday night.

That is where his Robs Promotions will jointly present an international tournament.

"The hall may be small but I honestly do not foresee problems," said Seoe.

The tournament, which features SA, WBF and WBA Pan African championship belts, is part of the 100th anniversary celebrations of the small town of Kestell, where Seoe lives.

This will be the first ever event of this magnitude to take place in Kestell. Seoe and the Free State sports department under the stewardship of Ace Magashule have declared admission free.

"Maluti-A-Phufong [municipality] actually requested that we do this," said Seoe whose house is a stone's throw from the venue. "In fact the mayor, Balekile Mzangwa, a medical paractioner, is also heavily involved in this venture. I am happy for spreading awareness of boxing here."

Seoe has made an immediate impact in boxing circles despite being in this fight game for less than a year. He has staged three major world championship fights in the Free State.

His fighters, Bongani "Cyclones" Mwelase, Bongani "Dancing Shoes" Mahlangu and Gideon "The Warrior" Buthelezi will feature prominently. In the main fight Mwelase faces Brazilian Anderson Clayton for the vacant WBF welterweight belt. It will be televised live on Blowy by Blow at 9.30pm

Mahlangu's WBA Pan African bantamweight strap will be at stake against Ugandan Martin Mubiru while Buthelezi will put the national flyweight belt on the line against Tshepo Lefele.

Action kicks off at 6pm.
