Top golfer Omar Sandys believes his time has come to lift one of the titles in the Sunshine Tour this season.
The Welkom-based golfer said this after finishing ninth in the Telkom PGA Pro-Am that was played at Centurion Country Club in Pretoria at the weekend.
The event was won by Merrick Bremner, who won his second title by one stroke at the R420000 event. "My wish is to end up in the top 10," said Sandys.
"I'm playing every tournament on the Tour, and hopefully I'll strike it rich soon," he said.
Sandys finished the 36-hole event by registering 208, while Bremner finished on 200.
Garth Mulroy failed to reproduce the form that carried him to victory at the Vodacom Origins of Golf Western Cape seven days ago. The lead changed hands frequently, and ironically Bremner never held the outright lead.
He gained the upper hand against the seasoned campaigners at the final hole.
The Sunshine Tour's next stop is the Suncoast Classic at the daunting Durban Country Club from September 11 to 13.
