Win a letdown for Hunt

After watching his team squander half a dozen chances, SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt had to be satisfied with a slim 1-0 win over Free State Stars.

The PSL champions hosted Stars at Super Stadium on Saturday evening, in their first game of the season - a game Hunt conceded was a letdown, after their showing last week.

"The way we played last week against Mamelodi Sundowns is very different to how we played tonight. It was a poor performance, but we have to be satisfied with what we got," Hunt said after the game.

The best chances - in the 11th and the 22nd minutes - fell to United's Glen Salmon, but it just was not his day.

In the 15th minute, Sipho Nkosi fouled Katlego Mashego in Stars' penalty area and referee Daniel Bennet awarded a penalty that Brent Carelse converted.

Stars' new coach Owen da Gama chose not to comment on the penalty, concentrating instead on heaping praise on Saitjheni Tsotetsi, who did extremely well in his PSL debut.

"We did quite a lot after working together for only two weeks. The players tried to play football, which is what I always emphasise. I'm convinced if we keep working hard we will find our stride," Da Gama said.
