Hundreds of township pupils went on the rampage, torching the house of a local inyanga allegedly linked to the suspected muti killing of their schoolmate.
This followed the disappearance of 17-year-old Ntombifuthi Masela, a pupil at the Botleng Secondary School near Delmas in Mpumalanga.
Her body, with a stab wound, was found floating in the nearby river two days later.
An inyanga, Carlos Makwakwa, Johannes Mbonani, 24, and a 15-year-old schoolgirl were arrested in connection with the teenager's murder.
Two of the accused - Mbonani and the schoolgirl - appeared in the Delmas magistrate's court for the second time last week.
Schooling was disrupted in the township when pupils marched on the magistrate's court baying for the blood of the detainees.
From the court the crowd proceeded to Makwakwa's house in Delpark Extension 2. They set the house alight. No injuries were reported since the house was empty at the time of the attack.
Captain Leonard Hlathi of the Mpumalanga organised crime unit said the dead teenager went missing on August 4.
Police arrested Mbonani and the schoolgirl on August 18 and they made their first court appearance on August 21.
