Embarrassed by poor Baker show

As a black South African I'm extremely embarrassed at the manner in which we organise international events, such as the Anita Baker show at the weekend.

As a black South African I'm extremely embarrassed at the manner in which we organise international events, such as the Anita Baker show at the weekend.

I love her music and I decided to buy expensive tickets to take my wife out to celebrate our anniversary.

We arrived on time at 6.30pm and went inside to wait for the show to start at 7.00pm

This is what happened. The seats were badly marked and the marshals were not adequate.

I saw people fighting as seats were taken by people who were not directed where to sit.

The show started one hour and 40 minutes late.

The comedian was not suitable for the event as the jokes were of a poor quality.

The sound was bad. There was too much echoing and the sound engineers did a bad job. Baker kept commenting about the poor sound quality.

I believe she was very disappointed by the organisers of the show, which included Khaya, Sowetan, and City Press.

I will never again attend any event of this nature because we lack organisational ability while we ask high prices for tickets.

All I can say is that I'm terribly disappointed.

Vincent Chauke,

Johannesburg
