Boxing enthusiasts around Gauteng are urged to come in big numbers to the Walter Sisulu Hall in Ferndale on Saturday evening.

This is where rising fighters from Soweto, Orange Farm, Toekomsrus, Springs, Fourways, as well as from Witbank and KwaZulu-Natal will be in action.

Their fights will be presented by promoter Xoli Gumede under the banner of Ethembeni Promotions.

Gumede, a former Transvaal and SA lightweight champion, has compiled seven bouts in various weight categories. He said admission is R50 (ringside), R40 and R25 for school children.

The main feature is a 10-rounder for the Gauteng middleweight title which will be contested by Emmanuel "Brown Bomber" Duma from Toekomsrus against Tshepo "De La Hoya" Mashego from Witbank.

War is definitely on the cards as both boxers are nearing the end of their careers and victory could see a revival.

Kyle Bothma from Fourways will be in action against Sfiso Mthethwa from Orange Farm in the super bantamweight class. Bothma is the son of Peet Bothma, the former SA lightweight champion.

Themba Lesiba, Boxing SA's 2007 Baby Champs junior featherweight champ, will fight Oupa Mohlabi while Steve Castle from Fourways will host Makhosonke Mchunu from KwaZulu-Natal in the heavyweight division.

Mchunu is the younger brother of SA light heavyweight champion Thabiso Mchunu.

Lumkile November from Soweto and Michael Sangweni from Springs will fight in the welterweight division over six rounds.

"Trainers of all these contestants said their charges cannot wait for Saturday night," said Gumede. "It will be a night of non-stop action and fun."
