Top South African model and businesswoman Tinyiko Mathusa is pregnant by a popular American R&B singer - but she has fears she could lose her baby.
She is three months pregnant.
"I don't want to talk about it though. It is a personal thing and I didn't want people to know about it," she said.
She refused to name her American lover because "he is the envy of all my friends".
"We have been together for five years and are planning on getting married.
"I could play you one of his CDs but that would be telling.
"I don't date South African men," she said.
Mathusa's secret pregnancy was revealed when she experienced vaginal bleeding on the set of a television commercial in Johannesburg on Monday.
The 26-year-old Mathusa was rushed to Edenvale Hospital, where she and her unborn baby were given a clean bill of health.
"I just felt dizzy and I was in pain. I was also bleeding heavily," she said.
Mathusa said she was terrified she was going to lose her first child. She again flatly refused to reveal the identify of her baby's father, except to say he was popular.
Mathusa said she had kept her pregnancy secret to "protect myself".
She said the ordeal had brought back painful memories of her mother, Mhlaba, who died two months ago.
"She suffered from bleeding for three years. She later suffered a stroke and developed growths in her head. I'm still trying to cope with what happened to her. I'm under a lot of stress at the moment."
In April, a former employee accused Mathusa of not paying her for more than three months.
"I earn dollars and she refuses to accept them," said Mathusa at the time.
Mathusa said her modelling career and international business ventures made her friends jealous. She said she co-owned a shop in the US and a club in Mozambique but refused to give their names.
"I'm afraid people will rob them because they belong to me."
