A 68-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 13-year-old disabled daughter in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga police said .
Superintendent Abie Khoabane said yesterday that the man was arrested on Sunday after the daughter went to visit a neighbour.
The neighbour noticed something was wrong with the girl. After a long discussion, the teenager told the neighbour that she had been raped, allegedly by her father, on August 13.
The man was expected to appear in the KwaMhlanga magistrate's court yesterday.
Meanwhile, at the weekend, two other rapes were reported to Mpumalanga police.
In Leslie, a 31-year-old woman was gang-raped by five men in her home in Lebohang township.
The men apparently gained entry into her home through an open bedroom window on Saturday at about 4am.
They allegedly raped her at knifepoint. The woman eventually managed to scream for help and her sister, who lives with her, came to her rescue.
As the men ran away, the woman recognised one of the rapists as someone who lived on her street. Two teenagers aged 16 and 18 years were subsequently arrested.
Police are confident the three other men, all believed to be in their 20s, will be arrested soon.
About the same time on Saturday in KaNyamazane, two men entered the bedroom of an 18-year-old girl and blindfolded her with a blanket.
One of the men raped the girl while the other held the mother at gunpoint.
Police are still searching for the two. - Sapa
