Prominent Limpopo businessman Mose Jacob Duba has died.

Duba, 65, died of cancer at the Wits University's Donald Gordon Medical Centre in Parktown, Johannesburg, at the weekend.

Duba served as an MP in the then Lebowa government from 1978 under Dr CN Phatudi. He was then appointed minister of law and order, and later minister of public works.

His son, Kingsley Duba, yesterday said his father's death was a sad loss to the family and the business fraternity. Duba operated a number of supermarkets in Polokwane and surrounding areas, as well as a security services company and Honeymoon lodges, until his untimely death.

He is best known as the owner of then Pietersburg City Pillars, a first division team he established after buying the status from North West-based Itsoseng Giant Aces in 2001.

Duba will be buried at his home village of Mmotong wa Perekisi on Saturday.
