Absa Premiership rookies Bay United's rebuilding process is on track and their major aim is to become a force to be reckoned with in the elite league.
Having acquired the services of former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana defender Cyril Nzama earlier, Umlilo went on to sign David Thwala from Black Leopards and Luntu Mazana from Orlando Pirates. This week they also signed on former Bucs defender Abednego Netshiozwi.
The Port Elizabeth team's spokesman Senzo Mazingiza said Netshiozwi signed a one-year contract with the club, with an option of renewal at the end of the season.
He pointed out that they would not stop signing layers because their major aim was to retain their elite league status.
"We're hard at work buying quality players for the new season so that we retain our status in the first season.
"The elite league is tougher and we'll not allow ourselves to be in this year and out the next season.
"The management and our supporters are aware and concerned about the club and they are giving us the support we need to see that the club becomes better in the near future," Mazingiza said.
He added that they were likely to acquire McDonald "Scooter" Mukansi, formerly of Jomo Cosmos and AmaZulu.
He is training with the team but has not yet signed up.
United are currently in pre-season training at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria.
