The Lions' coach, Eugene "Loffie'' Eloff is hoping to collect five points when they engage the Cheetahs in an Absa Currie Cup game at Ellis Park Stadium tonight at 7.

Speaking to Sowetan yesterday, Eloff said it was imperative to win this grudge game with a bonus point to keep their hopes of reaching the semifinals alive.

Eloff has not changed the side that mauled the Blue Bulls 30-27 at Loftus a fortnight ago, except for the inclusion of prop forward Ross Geldenhuys who replaces the injured Gert Muller.

Eloff's troops will be more determined to reverse their first-round defeat to the Free Staters in Bloemfontein on June 27.

With log leaders the Bulls (29 points) and the second-placed Sharks (28) getting a bye this weekend, the winner is guaranteed top spot on the log.

The Doornfontein outfit are fourth on the log with 26 points, trailing the third-placed Cheetahs by one point.

Elsewhere, the Griquas will host the sixth-placed Falcons in Kimberley in a 3pm kickoff tomorrow.
