South Africa may not be doing that well at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, with one medal so far, but the rest of the continent is producing performances to be proud of.

Thank God for Kgotso Mokoena, we have a silver medal.

Most Africans are or should be proud that Nigeria's Super Eaglets have made it to the final of the four-yearly spectacle.

They come up against defending champions Argentina who blasted fellow South Americans Brazil 3-0 in the semifinals.

Highlights of these achievements will be screened on the African Soccer Television show on SABC1 Sport's Laduma programme on Sunday.

The men's African representatives in football were doing it big for the continent, winning against illustrious opponents from the group stages.

In Group A, Ivory Coast got off to a good start, beating Australia 1-0 while in Group B, Nigeria accounted for the USA with a 2-1 victory.

It was in Group D that the continent's representatives Cameroon seemed to stutter, being held to a 0-0 draw by Italy but they were able to advance to the quarters.

They then came unstuck as the Brazilians halted their further participation via a 2-0 drubbing in extra time after they were reduced to 10 men.

A cruel twist of fate saw Ivory Coast coming face to face with fellow west Africans Nigeria who gave them a 2-0 pasting.

Nigeria went on to humiliate surprise package Belgium 4-1 in a hard-fought semifinal.

Other highlights will feature the 2008 Swazi Telecom Charity Cup, which was played last weekend.
