Build It building supplies chain stores are supporting the efforts by the Gauteng government to develop soccer as part of the 2010 Fifa World Cup legacy projects.
The company is financing a soccer tournament for Under-13 teams from primary schools in Gauteng.
It is a pilot project that will be spread to other provinces.
An array of professional soccer players in all those provinces will also be involved in conducting coaching clinics.
Bongani "Ace" Duiker, a former professional soccer player coordinating the competition, said the event was sanctioned by the South African Football Association.
Technical expert Ted Dumitru, who was instrumental in the formation of the Transnet Football School of Excellence, is a patron of the project.
"We are fully behind promoting Gauteng as the home of champions for 2010 and beyond, the tournament will go a long way in helping to produce quality players.
"We won't be able to produce quality players for Bafana Bafana and other national teams if we neglect development," Duiker said.
He said the next soccer competition will take place at Soshanguve's Nelson Mandela Sports Complex in Block X tomorrow, starting at 10am.
"Build it Bon Accord will be running the event, we always make sure that the local stores are the ones involved."
Legends Pollen "Trompies" Ndlanya and Deshi Bhaktawer will also be there to offer motivational talks to the participants.
After the Soshanguve event, Duiker said they will hold another tournament at Vosloorus Stadium on September 21 for Kathorus schools.
