DJ Nonhlanhla Buthelezi is quickly moving up the Ukhozi FM ladder.

Known as Mroza by the station's listeners, she co-hosts the Sekunjalo exclusive drive show, which has millions of listeners.

She says joining the team has been a big step in her career.

"I come from the very disadvantaged area of Dokodweni," she says. "By doing well on radio I've made people see that one can make it, no matter what one's background is."

Born in eDokodweni in Gingindlovu, northern KwaZulu-Natal in the mid-1970s, Mroza says that her dream of hosting a big show came quickly.

"When I joined Ukhozi FM in 2004 I never thought my dream would be realised so quickly.

"I could not believe it when I was told to co- host the show with Sipho Mbatha."

Mroza started as a host on the graveyard shift four years ago.

"I've learnt a lot since then. Standing in for other DJs has also helped me a lot."
