Zola Real Glasgow held their nerve to win the prestigious Clinix Sticks Morewa Challenge by beating Vine 7-6 on penalties at Safa Soweto Development Centre in Soweto on Sunday.
An enthusiastic crowd braved the chilly weather to watch development football at its best as both sides played 120 minutes without conceding a goal.
The game was decided on penalties which also brought the best out of goalkeepers Asaph Mahuma (Vine) and Mlungisi Sangweni, who pulled off spectacular saves.
With the scores tied at 6-all after each side had taken seven penalties, Glasgow goalie Sangweni stopped Thiunye Kgontlepane's spot kick while his counterpart Mahuma was beaten by Glasgow's Smangaliso Nkwanyana to win the title.
Other scorers for Glasgow were Suping Thebe, Siphiwe Njapha, Nkosiyapha Khanyile, Tshepiso Thulo, Sibusiso Mkhwanazi and Thabo Nkosi.
Vine's goals came from Mahuma, Thato Tsale, Louis Khotloko, Kganyisoni Mbatha, Vincent Tshabalala and Bonginkosi Hlongwane.
Mahuma walked away with the goalkeeper of the tournament award and Glasgow captain Nkwanyana won player of the tournament. Both received trophies.
The champions won R15000, gold medals and a trophy while the runners-up got R7000 and silver medals.
Senaoane Gunners received R2500 after beating Orlando Red Stars 1-0 in the loser's final.
Newcastle United were crowned the champions of the Under-11 after mesmerising Chiawelo Juventus 2-0 while the Under-15 trophy went to Protea Togetherness who blasted Naledi Youth Academy 6-0.
Safa Soweto president Phil Mogodi said: "I am excited that the four-month tournament came to an end without experiencing hiccups. We thanked the players, coaches, referees and the community at large for their good behaviour throughout until the last day."
