Residents of Regorogile's Extension 6 in Thabazimbi, Limpopo, say they do not believe in the municipality's latest promises to install toilets in their homes.
On Saturday residents were seen queuing outside the communal toilets.
For the past four years residents of more than 1000 homes in Extension 6 have been sharing six communal toilets - three for women and three for men.
Those whose homes are too far from the toilets use the nearest bush to relieve themselves, day and night.
Municipal manager Roger Nkhumise said last week that his municipality was waiting for a bank loan, which was expected to come through next month.
"They have been singing the same tune since 2006 about the budget," says resident Sello Mmebe.
"We are sick and tired of their promises."
South African Local Government Association (Salga) spokesman Mbengwa Xaba says unfortunately Salga only maintains what the national and provincial government delivers.
"Services such as sanitation are mainly delivered by the relevant department," Xaba says. "Municipalities are only there to maintain the services available."
Meanwhile, the people of Extension 6 just have to wait for basic sanitation to be delivered.
And those who live too far from the loos will have to continue hiding behind trees to relieve themselves.
