It is not often that a concert runs as long as the South African Music Heroes Concert and still has such sparkle.

Now in its 11th year, the heroes concert has withstood the test of time.

Its success has a lot to do with its fabulous line-up. Every year it has always featured giants of the South African music industry. And all indications are that this time around, it will again rock and have fans rocking because it once again boasts a line-up to die for.

The organisers should be proud that the concert has entered its second decade and is still bringing world class local entertainment to South Africans.

Scheduled to take place at Moretele Park in Mamelodi on Sunday, August 31, it is bound to again attract huge crowds, as it has for the past 10 years.

Staged by Drakensberg Promotions, the concert features Hugh Masekela, Caiphus Semenya, Letta Mbulu, Jonas Gwangwa, Winston Mankunku Ngozi, Busi Mhlongo, Jimmy Dludlu, Simphiwe Dana, Ringo Madlingozi, Malaika, Kutu, Linda Kekana, Siphokazi, Camagwini, the Heritage School of Music, CAFCA, Naledi, Ladies In Jazz, Wadee and Xoli Nosenga

The South African Music Heroes Concert was launched at Soweto's Orlando Stadium 11 years ago to honour South African icons of the music.

At that first concert, Masekela, Miriam Makeba, Semenya, Mbulu, Abdullah Ibrahim and Gwangwa drove music lovers absolutely wild. That concert laid the foundation for an event that would become South Africa's most popular yearly musical event.
