The fourth season of the Safa-Metropolitan Local Football Association League kicks off tomorrow with the opening matches taking place in Kuruman in Northern Cape.

Speaking ahead of the official launch of the new season, Mandla Mvelase, general manager of marketing and corporate affairs, said the active involvement of the community and the determination and commitment of the teams participating in this season looks set to make it even more successful.

"We are impressed by the manner in which local communities embraced the league and supported it last season," said Mvelase.

Safa chief executive Raymond Hack said the 2007-08 season was a resounding success.

"In this coming season, we expect further improvements in the standard of competition in the league, especially after the national executive committee of Safa adopted a new, standardised set of rules governing all development leagues," said Hack.

He said the league was launched in Northern Cape to mobilise support for the Cosafa Cup, which will be hosted by Kimberley in November and December.

The league, which finishes in March next year, will be followed by the Metropolitan Under-19 national playoffs in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

The fixtures for the opening Safa-Metropolitan LFA League in Kuruman's Bhankara stadium at 10.15am are:

Hungry Lions v Royal City; Maruping United v Moonlight;

Junior FC v Sesheng United; Arrive Alive v Loop City 07.
