Four Limpopo traffic officers, who were dismissed two years ago by the provincial department of roads and transport, have been reinstated and will receive more than R500000 in back pay.
They are Shadrack Mathatho, Stephen Thaba, Malebana Tsebe and Gordon Maluleka. They were based at the Mantsole traffic station outside Hammanskraal.
The four were allegedly fired after a problem with their local municipality over offices. The South African Police Union took their case to arbitration and won. They stand to be paid back a combined R568000 in lost income for the past two years. They must report for work today.
