Soweto-born Tsotsi star Terry Pheto might earn millions of rands with a new contract she has just sealed with international cosmetics company L'Oreal.
Speaking to Sowetan recently, Pheto could not conceal her nervousness and excitement over this deal, which she described as the fulfilment of a childhood dream.
In an interview Pheto was reluctant to reveal details of the contract, particularly as far as the money was concerned.
"This opportunity is more than just money," she said. "It has always been my dream to go this far. I think I have been honoured."
But L'Oreal South Africa brand manager Marriane Pretorius revealed more when she said: "What I can tell you is that what she got is on par with other international representatives of L'Oreal Paris.
"She has been paid the same amount of money. Her contract comes from Paris with all the details including the monetary value.
"What we did as the local company was to submit the names of candidates and they chose her.
"All we can reveal is that this is the biggest deal she has ever done in terms of money."
Going by what her international counterparts got, including acting legend Jane Fonda, Penelope Cruc, Claudia Schiffer and Beyonce Knowles, it means the Tsotsi star was paid millions.
For example, Fonda was paid about R5,3 million ($700000) in 2006, when at 68 she became the face of L'Oreal Paris, Knowles pocketed about R36million ($4,7m) a year, while Schiffer went home with a cheque worth millions.
