Work would begin in November, a month after earlier projections, Mariana Nieuwoudt, spokesman for Petroline Holdings, was quoted saying by the Mozambican daily newspaper Noticias yesterday.
Nieuwoudt said that the final version of the environmental impact report was submitted last week to South African authorities for public consultations.
The pipeline, which would link the port of Maputo to Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, and Gauteng, could carry 3,5million cubic metres of petroleum products a year.
The pipeline, which was expected to be operational in 2011, will help alleviate problems in the transportation of oil products in Gauteng, the Free State, North West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
