Top boxing trainer Nick Durandt says Takalani Ndlovu lost to Canadian Steve Molitor for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior featherweight title on July 14 last year for all the wrong reasons.

Durandt said: "I firmly believe he'll be a whole lot better as a featherweight."

Golden Gloves boss Rodney Berman said Ndlovu's has bounced back well from the defeat at the Casino Rama, Ontario in Canada.

His recovery was probably helped by the fourth-round stoppage win over Filipino Raymond Sermona here in February.

The "Panther", 30, will oppose Mexican Fernando Beltran Jnr for the vacant IBO featherweight title in Nashville, Tennessee, on August 22. Sowetanhas been quoted as saying it could be a defining point in his career.

"Beltran has very good credentials and he is a remarkably durable opponent," Ndlovu said. "I do, however, feel that I can beat him and both my speed and focus, which was lacking in the Molitor fight, has returned, and I'm determined to win the IBO featherweight crown."
