The Sandton homes of ANC Youth League president Julius Malema and the league's former national spokesman Zizi Kodwa have simultaneously been burgled and their identity documents stolen.
ANCYL general secretary Vuyiswa Tulelo said Malema and Kodwa's resi- dences were burgled in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Malema's car was broken into and his ID book and passport stolen, while Kodwa's ID book was also missing.
Tulelo said they believed the burglaries were a "coordinated effort", which she described as an "act of cowardice".
She said the burglaries were reported to the Sandton police.
"We hold the firm view that this dastardly act of cowardice is the work of desperate forces who believe they can intimidate us into submission," Tulelo said.
"It is a sad day to realise that in our country we still have apartheid-style tactics in which one's residence is ransacked with impunity.
"We dare these forces of darkness to confront us openly in broad daylight."
She condemned the burglaries, saying "an attack on leaders of the ANCYL is an attack on the ANCYL itself".
