The Spinners, one of the greatest outfits to ever come out of Motown, will perform at the Standard Bank Joy Of Jazz in Newtown from August 26 to August 28.

Internationally acclaimed for their R&B and soul sounds, the glamour boys of the US will mesmerise audiences at the Dinaledi stage.

The Spinners belong to that era of good music that was so great that the songs remain in high rotation and in demand as covers 30 years after they were penned .

When you listen to the renditions by founding members Bobby Smith, Henry Fambrough and Pervis Jackson, the vocally gifted voices behind The Spinners, you marvel at the way their message remains valid even today.

At the Dinaledi stage locals will experience the thrill of watching newcomers - lead singer Charlton Washington and a soul-infused band comprising Harold Spike Bonhart (vocals); Thaddeus Dixon (drums); Ray Burton (bass guitar); Keith Ferguson (keyboards); Ronald Stevenson (guitar) and William Wooten (keyboards).

So far the outfit has dropped 12 gold discs. Take a stroll down memory lane with all-time classics such as Mighty Love, I'm Coming Home, Then Came You a duet with Dionne Warwick, Love Don't Love Nobody, How Could I Let You Get Away, You're Throwing A Good Love Away, Games People Play, Easy Come, Easy Go, Forgive Me, Girl, The Cupid Medley and Could It Be.

The six-time Grammy-nominated group boasts a Black Gold Award from Dick Clark for their achievements in the recording industry. They have also been awarded the Rhythm and Blues Foundation Award for their contribution to R&B and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Catch The Spinners' performances on August 29 and 30.
