I watched an exchange between a motorist and pedestrian in the Joburg CBD the other day.
The pedestrian crossed in the middle of the block and was nearly run over by a motorist who had right of way. The pedestrian then had the gall to swear at the motorist.
Pedestrians seem not to realise that in a fight between a person and a car the car will win and the person will be taken on a trip to our lovely provincial hospital. Yikes!
Here are some rules. Cross at the green man and don't dawdle at intersections. Don't cross on the yellow and then run the last few feet.
And, for heaven's sake, don't keep your head down as if you are doing nothing wrong when you jaywalk or walk on the red. Pay attention or you could end up dead.
