Here are the latest winners of the yearly Absa and Sowetan Early Childhood Development (ECD) awards announced in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape at the weekend. In the Western Cape:l The best ECD practitioners are Nosipho Mbekwa, Colleen Isaacs and Ntombekhaya Mazwi;

l Best community-based ECD centres are Ishraa Educare Centre, Sinethemba Pre-School and Vuzokuhle Educare Centre; and

l Best ECD resources and training providers are EIF Montessori, Cape Mental Health Society and the SA Education and Environment Project.

In the Eastern Cape:

l Best ECD practitioners are Nondumiso Mpitimpiti, Tracy King and N Eunice;

l Best community-based ECD centres are Raglan Multi-Purpose Centre and Zamukukhanya Pre-School;

l Best home-based ECD centres are Doompie Playgroup Centre, Nosandla Educare Centre and Umzamomhle Creche; and

l Best ECD resources and training providers are Centre for Social Development and Masikhule Early Childhood Development Centre.
