An 18-year-old teenager has beenarrested in connection with the gruesome murder of his stepmother.
Her throat was slit and a plastic bag put over her head last Friday.
The arrest yesterday came after police received a tip-off that the boy might have been involved in the murder because he and his 40-year-old stepmother had not always seen eye to eye.
The woman's mutilated body was found in a pool of blood at about 5pm at her house in the Eureka Section of KaNyamazane township, east of Nelspruit.
Captain Phillip Fakude yesterday said: "When we visited the scene of crime, we realised there was human fle sh on her teeth."
"A plastic bag covered her head and her throat had been slit."
Members of the community said the two had always engaged in fierce arguments.
The stepson went into hiding at a relative's place when members of the community started baying for his blood.
He is expected to appear in the local magistrate's court tomorrow.
Meanwhile, police are still looking for suspects in yet another murder case after a teenage girl's body was found in a dam in Delmas on Monday morning.
The body of Tryphinah Ntombifuthi Masela, 17, was found with a stab wound to the ear and her hand was broken.
