Six women's rugby teams will descend on East London today to take part in the yearly Bottom Six Women's Tournament at Sisa Dukashe Stadium.
The tournament, which is hosted by the South African Rugby Union, takes place in Women's Month and will end with the final tomorrow.
The participating teams are the Falcons, Mpumalanga, Griqualand West, Limpopo, SA National Defence Force and SA Correctional Services.
Mahlubi Puzi, Saru manager of game development, said the event gives the provinces who are not playing in the provincial tournament an opportunity to play representative rugby.
He added that the tournament will be played on a round-robin and the two top sides will proceed to the final.
The triumphant side will be promoted to the Provincial Women's League next season.
Reggie Fafaroa, convener of selectors for the national women's team, is expected to attend the event to identify talent.
Five players from Vosloorus have been included in Ekurhuleni side the Falcons' 22-member squad.
They are Smangele and Thulisile Yekele (both flankers), Noxolo Sitiya (centre) and Bonelwa and Tshepiso Radebe (centre and wing)
