The report "Most farmers law-abiding" published in Sowetan of July 31 can be seen as an effort to combat high food prices and reduce rural murders.
Allow me to explain. Contrary to the minister of agriculture and popular perception, most farmers do not mistreat their workers.
The perception that most farmers do mistreat their workers leads to a negative feeling towards the food producers.
It also fuels violence towards farmers. The more farmers stop farming the less food is produced and the higher food prices rise.
The public needs to know the facts.
