Solomon Mahlangu High School conquered Molly Blackburn High School 8-0 in the Butityi Konki schools rugby league game at Jabavu Stadium in Uitenhage on Wednesday.

Both teams started the game with caution in the first half and created few scoring chances.

After a scoreless first half, both sides spread their game wide in the second half as they tried to break the deadlock.

Mahlangu were rewarded when leading points scorer Nolukhanyo Seokwe opened the account with a try in the 60th minute.

The Blackburn loose forwards were struggling to keep up with the game and conceded a penalty.

Centre Phumzile Mbewu made no mistake from the resultant kick o see Mahlangu emerging 8-0 victors.

But Blackburn were consoled when Sakhe Kile was voted man of the match and pocketed R200 for his efforts.

After seven unbeaten matches, Mahlangu are still on top of the log with 38 points while Blackburn are second with 32 points.

The last games of the development event will be played in Uitenhage on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Mahlangu meet John Waleon High in the elite Eastern Province High School Rugby League in Uitenhage today at 3pm.
