South Africa will host the Confederations Cup in 2009 and the World Cup in 2010.
But 14 years into our democracy we still have many South Africans who are not devoted to their own country.
I made this observation at the recent Vodacom Challenge match at Loftus between Kaizer Chiefs and Manchester United. It was truly an embarrassment for our nation to see the fans of the local team outnumbered by Manchester United fans. What is sad is that no fans from the UK followed Manchester United to SA.
Most of these fans do not support our local PSL games.
We are really heading for serious problems in 2010 if the same fans turn out to support other countries and not their own.
