The Tshabangu family of QwaQwa in the Free State is distraught after losing a second baby a year after her sister died at the same hospital.

The baby's father, Teboho Tshabangu, 27, says the five-day-old baby, who had not been named yet, died at the Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli Hospital last Wednesday.

Her surviving twin sister is still at the hospital with her mother.

The angry family has accused the hospital of negligence and causing the baby's death.

The family now say they fear for their surviving child's life.

Last year the family lost a first-born child who died at the same hospital shortly after birth.

"The hospital does not care about blacks," Tshabangu says.

"How can two of my babies die of the same ailment in the same hospital? We are deeply hurt and demand answers from them.

"My wife told a nurse that the pipe inserted in the baby's mouth to feed her was out, but the nurse said it was not a problem.

"Hours later the baby started bleeding and that was when the nurse started to attend to her - but it was already too late."
