A strike by 750 workers at the Peter Mokaba 2010 Soccer Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo, has ended, a workers' union said yesterday.

The National Union of Mineworkers and construction consortium WBHO reached an agreement on Tuesday, said Eddie Cottle, coordinator for the Campaign for Decent Work Towards and Beyond 2010.

Workers went on strike on July 22 demanding a monthly bonus of R1000.

NUM and the WBHO reached an agreement that a R3000 bonus will be paid to all workers.

NUM spokesman Lesiba Seshoka said workers would be paid a R1000 bonus on August 8, and the remaining R2000 in December.

Prior to the agreement, workers who were unable to work until December were not going to be paid bonuses, Seshoka said. - Sapa
