For the first time since its inception, the Sony Fevapitch 5-a-side soccer road show will be held at Olympia Park Precinct, Geelhout Park soccer fields, Rustenburg in North West on Saturday and Sunday.

Sony, an official partner of the 2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa in the digital life category, introduced the event in 2007.

Based on the successes it has included two more provinces in the mix, Free State (Bloemfontein) and North West (Rustenburg), to bring the number of provinces to five. Cape Town, Durban and Gauteng will again take part.

This year 24 amateur teams will compete in each preliminary event with the finalists invited to compete in the national finals in Johannesburg on November 25 and 26.

The duration of each game will be 20 minutes with a three-minute break between each half.

To further enhance the experience, Sony has included entertainment between games. In Rustenburg Tuks Senganga will perform on Sunday, while showstopper dancers and soccer tricksters will also display their soccer skills on both days.

The Sony All Stars team, comprising former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs captain Neil Tovey, Steve Crowley, Mark Fish, Eddie Motale, Doc Khumalo, Bashin Mahlangu, Marc Batchelor and Mark Williams will play in the Sony Media Challenge on Sunday and will also participate in fun activities between games where fans can win prizes.

The 24 teams will be divided into eight groups with three clubs in each and will compete on a round robin format.

The winners of each pool will go on to compete for the main prize while those knocked out will compete in a plate section.
