A Mpumalanga man who suspected that his wife was cheating on him allegedly shot her and his 20-year-old stepson yesterday.

Sarah Maseko and her son Thulani Maseko, of Embalenhle, were allegedly killed by her husband on Monday night.

The man had allegedly moved out of their home because of a family dispute. He worked in Springs, Ekurhuleni, and had returned for a weekend visit.

Police Superintendent Abie Khoabane said when the man arrived home he took his wife's cellphone and allegedly found SMSes that made him believe she was cheating on him.

Khoabane said the couple allegedly quarrelled and Thulani tried to intervene. In the ensuing row Thulani was shot.

Khoabane said while Thulani was being rushed to hospital the suspect allegedly "grabbed the boy's mother, forced her into his car and drove off".

Police found the suspect's vehicle outside Embalenhle yesterday morning. Next to it lay Sarah's half-naked body. She had a bullet wound in the face. Police are searching for the suspect.
