A trendsetting nation-building partnership has led to six lucky aspirant soccer superstars starting a journey towards realising their dreams.

They are successful recruits of the Shona Khona education-in-sports initiative who pipped 40 other hopefuls during intensive soccer coaching and life skills training sessions in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, at the weekend.

Visiting Manchester United in Manchester, England, next month is surely set to feature high on the list of momentous, life-changing events in the diaries of these Gauteng lads.

They are 14-year-olds Julian de Freitus from Illovo and Samkelo Qwabe from Alexandra, Gauteng; 13-year-old Lyle Johnson from Kimberley, Northern Cape; 14-year-old Zenande Sibali from Butterworth, Eastern Cape; 14-year-old Mogorosi Mmethi from Mafikeng, North West, and Iyanda Mabani .

Shona Khona was started by Reckitt Benckiser and Metro Cash and Carry three years ago.

Its other partners are Sowetan, the SABC, Mamelodi Sundowns, AIG, Imperial Europcar and ForwardZone
