A titanic battle is expected when Solomon Mahlangu High School battle it out against Molly Blackburn in a Butityi Konki School Rugby League game at Jabavu Stadium in Uitenhage today.

Both teams have been been playing superb and exciting rugby since the inception of the development league and are hot favourites for the coveted trophy.

They have won all their first six games with Mahlangu leading the pack with 34 points, two points ahead of second-placed Blackburn.

Mahlangu's coach Sizwe Dlanga said they will leave no stone unturned to stretch their winning streak to seven by thrashing their opponents.

"My boys are fit as fiddles and will be out to prove their superiority over Blackburn and stay in the driver's seat," said Dlanga.

Mahlangu, who are campaigning in the white-dominated Eastern Province School League, are still to concede a point in the development league.

Coach Samukile Yamile of Blackburn said: "Mahlangu is a well- organised and tough team. But my team won't show any respect when they trot on to the field."

There will be a draw during the competition and the lucky winner will go home with a new 54cm colour TV set donated by tournament sponsor Butityi Konki.

Konki has also added R200 for the man of the match specifically for the Mahlangu-Blackburn affair.

In the opening game at 3pm, Tatani meet Tinara and Thanduxolo face Sisonke, while Nkululeko challenge Zanolwazi.
