The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) yesterday dismissed Cape Judge President John Hlophe's call that certain members of the commission recuse themselves from thehearing against him.

The commission's hearing centres on allegations that Hlophe, pictured, tried to influence two constitutional court (Concourt) justices to find in favour of ANC president Jacob Zuma in his application for a finding that his rights were violated during the Scorpions' raid on his properties and offices in 2005.

The commission rejected the judge president's request for the recusal of Judge Craig Howie, advocates George Bizos, Milton Seligson, Kgomotso Moroka and attorney Julian von Klemperer.

Hlophe asked for the commissioners' recusal claiming they had unfairly criticised him over allegations he was paid by the Oasis Group without first obtaining the necessary consent from the justice minister.
