Condolences are pouring in for IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi whose daughter was killed in a car accident on Sunday.

Princess Lethuxolo "Xolo" Buthelezi died on Sunday morning when her vehicle crashed on the R66 at Mthonjaneni Heights in Melmoth, northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The distraught mayor of the Zululand district municipality, who is also the national IFP chairman, Zanele Magwaza-Msibi, expressed her party's heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family.

Lethuxolo worked as an office manager for the municipality and also for the house of traditional leaders.

She died at the scene.

A male passenger survived the crash and is in a critical condition at Kwa-Magwaza Hospital.

Magwaza-Msibi said Lethuxolo was a pillar of strength to her father.

She said the death came only hours after Buthelezi buried his confidant and party stalwart of 38 years, the Reverend Celani Mthethwa.

The National Democratic Convention (Nadeco) expressed its deepest condolences to the family, saying they hoped God will help them deal with the grief.

Nadeco national spokesman Margaret Arnolds said the party is mourning with the family.
